Manfeild a success
29th November 2008 - John Clunie

The success of Manfeild can be measured by the hard earned results that came from pure racing. The winners were not gifted their victories and the runners up had their work cut out in each of the three races for both categories..

   Address Updates
27th September 2008 - John Clunie

I am still waiting for quite a few renewal forms so that you are on the current mailing list. All entries from this season will be sent and received by the club. Contrary to what many may think, this is not a money thing, it is to enable correct documentation procedures where clubs run a Series.

There has been increasing difficulty for tracks to maintain current membership files for the various classes that promote and organise Sanctioned Series events, including identifying which series an entry belongs to (last year we had several names included in our entry lists that were not Pro7 competitors. With circuits now running their own timing systems that also ends up with incorrect loadings.

I am holding all membership forms submitted to date and will process these for card issue once the stragglers have sent theirs in. It is uneconomic to do short runs of the plastic cards.

   Seen and Heard
27th September 2008 - John Clunie

Interest is rapidly building as we count down to Labour weekend. After a winter of depressed attitudes relative to the economic woes we have all felt, it seems that optimism has surfaced bringing with it an increase in retail activity and greater participation in sport and recreational pursuits.

   Speedshow has been
27th September 2008 - John Clunie

Many thanks to Phil Blythe and Brodie Scott for making our presence at Speedshow quite visible and representing us well. Also thanks to Graeme Hill for spending a day up there as an ambassador for the club.

From all accounts it was very successful with the venue shift attracting even more traffic. Last year we attracted 2 new drivers as a result of Speedshow and this year we look like beating that record. Thanks Guys, you did well.

   Anticipation builds
13th August 2008 - John Clunie

The amount of interaction around the traps tells me the new season must not be far away. Membership renewals are coming steadily as members look to pre season shake down events. Cars are surfacing that haven’t been seen in a while, some with new owners, and those in the final stages of new car construction are now looking for tyre deliveries etc.

   Winter News Brief
19th July 2008 - John Clunie

This home page was starting to look a bit stale which I guess means priorities have been elsewhere.

So what’s been happening out there. No news of new babies, after all these cold nights maybe that means there will be later. Not a lot of chat about winter testing, perhaps there is a secret or two being concealed to surprise later, Brodie? Cars changing hands, well yes there has been a bit of that going on. Communication between members, now there’s a hot topic, definitely been hearing a bit on the grapevine.

   Biggest final on record
4th April 2008 - John Clunie

Thirty One cars, the biggest grid at Manfeild, was also the largest assembled for a Series final in the history of the Pro7.  Saturday saw both categories blanketed over the top order by just points of a second. The weekend races looked set to be both close and combative with a handful of drivers eyeing positive outcomes.

Matt Lockwood shows potential in Australia
15th March 2008 - John Clunie

Eastern Creek, a V8 Ute he had never driven before and 6 laps of practice before qualifying. That was not the ideal way to make your debut to both a Supercar meeting and a category you had not yet contested.   Read full story >

12th February 2008 - John Clunie

The irony is;

The enigma of one day meetings
12th February 2008 - John Clunie

After a rather lack luster but championship shakeup meeting at Manfeild where the appeal of one day meetings appeared to seal there fate, Pukekohe’s one day encounter looks to turn the table on this theory. Read full story >

V8 Utes ruin meeting - Round 5 Race Report
09th February 2008 - John Clunie

Once again a promised Ute meeting turned to custard and wrecked the plans of race organizers and race classes alike.  Pro7 had originally planned to include this meeting as round 3 of the NZ Champs but as soon as doubts were raised that the fabled Utes would be a non event, this plan was changed.   Read full story >

   Growth eminent
19th January 2008 - John Clunie

Pro7 racing has receives positive feedback after a very successful tour South.

Twenty two North Island cars made the tour South where Ruapuna and Levels hosted the first and second rounds of the annual NZ Champs for Series One cars. The major impact however, came via the 10 strong contingent of Plus group cars which had never been seen before in the South as a race category.

Duffin and Killip Dominate At Pukekohe - Round 3 Race Report
3rd December 2007 - John Clunie

Phil Blythe could be forgiven for ruing the day Brett Killip returned and feeling dismayed at the form of young Matt Lockwood. Pukekohe will be remembered as the weekend when Blythe’s hand was forced and a trip to the South Island became a must do notation in his diary, points preservation is now a priority.   Read full story >

Season to start on a high
14th September 2007 - John Clunie

Entries are in for Taupo at Labour weekend and reflect the much anticipated growth in numbers. Projections were that close to 30 car grids would be achieved from round 3 onward but it seems that may have been pesimistic with round One numbers already exceeding this figure.   Read full story >

  Technical Bulletin, appointment of cadet.
23rd September 2007 - John Clunie

Congratulations Crunch and Laura

Ari will be suitably groomed to become deputy CTO as soon as he learns to walk and talk. We estimate that from new born (September 22nd 2007) to offical duty will be approxiamately 3 weeks since he has the best of educational expertise available 24 hours per day.

Hope Laura and Ari are doing well and that rrrap rrrap rrap quickly becomes associated with that happy sound of an RX7 rather than early warning of the next nappy change.
