A new initiative has been launched to create a Motorsport
Carnival that will truly be “more than motorsport”
Kicking off at Taupo during Labour weekend, the IRC Summer
Tour will feature what used to be second tier motor racing
with live action both on and off track.
The planning has been done, the people are in place, the
tracks are booked and the entertainment will extend beyond
circuit action from 9 very different but well supported race
categories.
In announcing the IRC Summer Tour, Convenor of Operations
John Clunie states that the whole intention is to make motor
racing a “must see” spectator sport while being an event of
significance for competitors. There is literally millions of
dollars of race machinery competing over Summer each year
says Clunie. It is from the Independent race classes that
stars of tomorrow suddenly emerge. It is the best kept
secret in sport, but why? Our opinion is because merely a
day at the races is for the die hard fan or supporter, we
will have evolving attractions that will make a Carnival of
our Tour, an occasion that all ages and family groups can
enjoy.
During the count down to October high impact media will
reveal good reasons to come along and have a great day out.
Keep you eye on club web sites, shop windows and an ear on
the radio. You simply won’t want to miss the experience.
Round One will be our Summer Blast Off meeting at the Taupo
Motorsport Park.
