   It's all happening round here

As we count down to season 2009-1010 it’s becoming hard to keep up with all the happenings that bode well for the Summer Thunder Tour.

What with new Tech Officers being born, congratulations Crunch and Laura on the birth of Finn McRae, good to know we have continuity for when that Zimmer frame renders you past it. Oh and by the way, really good that you produced a new born that is already big enough to pass as an adult, saves us having to create a kids pass to get him in. Then we have our first female Pro7 Plus driver joining the grid. This just goes to prove the merit of serving your time in Pro7’s and gaining the confidence to foot it with the quick cars. Seriously, Deb has really advanced her skills over the last two seasons and is now surrendering her trusty S1 to Son Robbie to make his debut also in this great class so be watching for a bright Red Bat with the Treasurer at the wheel.

In fact it seems that S1 cars will feature a handful of new members this season. Peter Steers has introduced David Wiffin to the club. Brad Lathrope is abandoning his spot in control at Pukekohe to come racing with us. Clan Carkeek will debut their new S1 in the hands of Matthew with Terry perhaps taking the seat for the NZ Champs.  From Masterton we will see the Brader (well known in Rally circles) family from time to time and who have just done business with Bob which will hopefully see Dad and two Sons at least, out campaigning their new S1. (ex Team Gold car I believe). Actually might even get to see Rogers RX3, one of NZ’s true classic rally cars which he keeps absolutely mint.

The Plus number strength looks set to be at a peak. Dean McMillan is back, so the Hawkes Bay returns to a two car Bat brigade. Rumour has it that a couple of S4’s that have been absent for a season or two may well line up and throw the gauntlet down to the S6’s. Then of course there are 3 or 4 others which have been taking time out also returning so the squad looks set to exceed 13 or 14 cars.
